American Type Culture Collection (ATCC) Is Currently Having Significant Problems With Order Processing and Fu...

American Type Culture Collection (ATCC), a major distributor of cell lines and other biological materials, is currently having significant problems with order processing and fulfillment.  The problem is related to a failed system upgrade.  This issue began on September 1st, and continues to date.  Penn Procurement Services was not notified of this problem until late yesterday, and has been working to confirm receipt & shipment of all pending orders.

For those considering placing new orders with ATCC: we have not been provided a firm resolution date to these order issues.  ATCC has not confirmed via normal electronic methods the shipment dates for any orders received after September 1st, nor are they able to commit to processing new or unprocessed orders in a timely manner.

As a result, until ATCC confirms a firm date for resolution to these order processing and fulfillment issues, you may want to consider as a starting point alternative sources of supply for other than ATCC proprietary products-suppliers include Life Technologies, Fisher Scientific and EMD Millipore.  There are also alternate repositories like Addgene for plasmids.

If you have any questions about your current order, or need to confirm status of an existing order, please contact the ATCC representatives listed below:
