Contracts and Sourcing

Contracts

Contracting at Penn is overseen by Procurement Services and its Strategic Sourcing team. Per University policy, all purchasing contracts must be executed (signed) by authorized individuals in Procurement Services. With this responsibility, the team also helps Schools and Centers develop and negotiate contracts where appropriate. In doing so, Procurement Services cooperates with partner functions including, but not limited to, the Office of General Counsel, the Office of Risk Management, the Office of Information Security, the Office of Audit Compliance & Privacy, and the Office of Research Services, to ensure that the University is properly mitigating risk and safeguarding assets.

To get help with a contract, or to have a contract reviewed and executed, please contact sourcing@upenn.edu.

Strategic Sourcing

Strategic Sourcing is a term for strategically leveraging spend to compete, negotiate, and implement optimal supply solutions. Whether through a centrally led sourcing initiative, or in support of a School/Center's specific sourcing needs, Procurement Services' Strategic Sourcing team manages a variety of strategic initiatives on an ongoing basis.

Penn's Strategic Sourcing team is organized to align industry expertise to specific areas of spend.  Those spend areas include: Information Technology, Research & Life Sciences, Print and Interactive Communications, Events and Professional Services, Independent Contractors, Office Supplies & Books and Facilities and Operations.

For support on sourcing initiatives, please contact sourcing@upenn.edu.
